The new General
Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is coming
to Albuquerque! The Rev. Teresa Hord Owens is headlining the event
Making Disciples Together which will be held on Saturday, Sept 8, from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm, at Monte Vista
Christian Church (3501 Campus Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106). This
is the first time in almost 25 years that the GMP of our denomination has come
to New Mexico. You don’t want to miss it!
Rev. Hord Owens will be addressing the group about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the Christian Church in the US and Canada. She will be taking questions from the group, and she will be preaching on “Bearing Fruit Together” (John 15:1-5) for the afternoon worship service.
Representatives from the Pension Fund, the Christian Church Foundation and the National Benevolent Association will all be on hand. Workshops are being offered by our regional minister Andy Mangum (“The Great Commission”), by host pastor Dawn Rosignol (“An Introduction to Unbinding the Gospel”) and by the new Interim Regional Connection Minister for New Mexico Kim Fields-Haley (“Finding Home”).
Registration for this FREE event is now open. The easiest way to reserve your spot is to go online to https://teresahordowens.myevent.com. If the internet isn’t your thing (which seems unlikely since you're reading on the website!), click here for a copy of the registration form.
Lunch is provided. Housing (in the homes of Albuquerque area Disciples) is available for Friday evening, Sept 7, at no cost. Please indicate your preferences on your registration.
Registration ends Tuesday, September 4th. Let's take advantage of this opportunity to meet with other Disciples and welcome our new General Minister!
A Tres Rios Area Transition Information Gathering will take place on Friday evening, Sept 7th, beginning at 7:30 pm, at Monte Vista Christian Church. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
Our new Interim Regional Connection Minister, Kim Fields-Haley, and our regional minister, Andy Mangum, will be on hand to talk about the changes happening in the region and the next steps for the Tres Rios Area in that process.
We will also do some business together such as voting in new TRA Board members and allocating needed funds for 2018-2019.
( Please Note: TRA Ministers, spouses, and partners will share a dinner together with our General Minister and President at 5:00 pm prior to the gathering. Cost of dinner is on your own. Please RSVP to email@example.com )
